My Lowest Weight For 20 Years

A month since I last checked my weight, but the trend is still slow and steady weight loss.

Today my weight is 166lbs which is 11 stone 12lbs ( approx 75 kilos ) so 2lbs less than a month ago, meaning I continue to lose at a rate of about half a pound per week. I have not been under 12 stone since i played football in my mid 20′s, amazing what stopping going on diets can do for you !

The way my current lifestyle is, means losing weight more quickly than this is not possible without further changes to either my workouts or my diet ( eating less). Those are changes I don’t want to make, I am happy with the progress. In terms of my health, my weight is good, it is only my abs experiment that means I continue to lose weight in order to get them to show. Vain I know, but the reason we all lose weight is to look better, and I am no different.

Intermittent Fasting Stubborn Fat

With my original weight loss target reached last month My next focus will be to try and shift  the stubborn fat the remains. My 2010 goal will be that elusive holy grail of the 6 pack and I know that Intermittent Fasting is the perfect tool to use to get rid of that stubborn fat. I am looking at some new bodyweight exercise plans for the new year, but for the next few weeks, will just continue with what has produced such successful results through 2009.

Intermittent Fasting Week 17

Well , here we are at the start of a new month, and doing my weigh in today, things continue to go well. I was pleasantly surprised to see the scales showing less than I expected , so here are numbers.

86 Kilos
190 Llbs or 13 stone 8 lbs.

Since January 1st I have now lost 41lbs. my starting weight was 231lbs. or for you metric Europeans, 19 kilos!.

Four months of using Intermittent Fasting to lose weight and I continue to find it easy.

It goes without saying that I am feeling great, of course now people have noticed the weight loss, the funny thing is the looks I get when they ask how I did it, it goes something like this …

Well Wisher ” Dave what diet are you on ”

Dave ” I am not on a diet ”

W.W. ” but you have lost loads of weight, how did you do it ”

D.W. ” I started to eat less, and enjoy the foods I do eat ”

Of course if I mention fasting, they say something like ” but starving yourself is dangerous ” to be honest it just is not worth the effort, so I have found saying I just eat less is easier !.

As you are reading this blog, you obviously have an interest in fasting, so your different ;) . To you I say intermittent fasting is the most effective way to either lose weight or control your weight there is. After 4 months of using I.F nobody is going to be able to tell me otherwise, the proof is in the 41lbs I no longer carry around, for those of you who try and tell me to go low carb, or zone, please, save it for a forum some place else, I am a retired dieter and staying that way.

Intermittent Fasting Weight Loss Update

It is 7 weeks today since I did began to use Intermittent Fasting. I have lost 1lb this week, making a total loss of 24lb approx 11.5 kilos. As I posted yesterday, I am experimenting this week using an extended IF window on weekdays, and eating as normal on a weekend. I will document how I progress over the next week. I am writing this mid morning ( about 10.30 am )  and have no hunger at the moment.

Last nights evening meal was Spaghetti Bolognese, followed by a blackberry and apple fruit crumble, fruit was real fruit, not out of tin, before you ask !.  I do tend to eat real food,  nothing out of a box is one rule I tend to follow. I am interested to see  if I find Intermittent Fasting harder to do today with eating  , what would be regarded as quite a high carb meal last night.I ate at usual time yesterday and certainly had no desire to eat anything more before bed last night. I had  2 cups of fruit tea,  but certainly was not hungry. So as I write this I am 16hrs into the fast and I can’t say I feel any different at the moment than on other fasting days. I will see how it goes, and report any changes. Chicken casserole tonight, made with chicken thighs, looking forward to it.

I.F. Update Thursday 19th Feb 4pm.
No problems on the fast at all. I don’t know if this is because my body is used to intermittent fasting now, or simply that the carbs have not had any adverse effect. With just over to hours to go before I eat, the fast has been comfortable.

Intermittent Fasting Fat Loss

6 weeks into following Intermittent Fasting for weight loss, here is the details of measurements and body fat percentage comparisons .

In the first 6 weeks I have lost 12% body fat. I am of course thrilled with this result, and it shows that intermittent fasting reduces body fat, the results show I am maintaining muscle while losing fat, which is the main objective. When I take into account that I have also continued to eat the foods I enjoy during this time period, I feel this is further confirmation that intermittent fasting is a simple and straight forward way of reducing body fat.

The main point I want to make about these results is, they have been achieved without any special foods or supplements, no long boring sessions cardio exercise and no restrictions of the type of foods I eat.It is important to also remember that  following my intermitent fasting plan, I still eat every day, there is never a day without food. The science behind intermittent fasting is that during the fasted state the body burns fat, with the optimum period of fat burning occurring between 18 and 24 hrs. I am sure some people will want to dispute it, but all I can say is , I am following this plan to lose body fat, and the results speak for themselves.
