Intermittent Fasting works for me

Fasting for weight loss is going well for me. I started on January 1st 2009, and today is my 5th week of using intermittent fasting to help reduce me weight. Other than the fasting periods , where obviously I am not eating anything, I have not restricted the foods I eat. This means during the last 5 weeks, if there was something I wanted to eat, I have done so.

The  reason for me following an intermittent fasting plan, is I did not want to have to think about what I can and can not eat, diets make us think of good and bad foods. I can honestly say that in the last 5 weeks I have not felt deprived. It is still early days, I am only following a flexible fasting lifestyle for 5 weeks, but at this point I would say it is something I will no problem to continue. I like the way I can plan my fasts around my life. In my view diets have the opposite affect, and we end up planning out lives around our diets.  Yesterday I received an offer from Pizza Express offering a meal including a glass of wine or beer, garlic dough balls, or garlic bread for £10, but I have to use it in the next ten days. I like my local Pizza Express, so this is something I will take them up on. I am not on a diet, I am not watching my carbs, so I didn’t think, oh but i am on a diet, i don’t want to blow my diet by going to pizza express. I will use the day I go as a fasting day, and I will break the fast, in Pizza Express, and enjoy it. I am not saying this is for everyone, but it certainly works for me.

In the 5 weeks of fasting for weight loss I have so far lost  21lbs.  which is 1 and a half stone, or 10 kilos. I did lose 9lbs in the first week, but remember I started on New Years Day after a week or so of serious indulgence !. The last 2 weeks I have lost 2lbs each week, a steady weight loss that I am happy with.
